Wednesday, June 10, 2009 PRASAC joined as a co-sponsor of a seminar called “Career Guidance for the Future” prepared by Cambodian Mekong University. This event is subject to impart information about Career Guidance to pursuing university students as well as for the benefits of graduating high school students.
On this special occasion, Mr. Say Sony, Marketing Manager of PRASAC Microfinance Institution, saying that, “Since the first start of PRASAC as Financial Service Provider, we have been willing to help people in building their living condition and guiding them for bright future not only through financial services but also through any mean of possible contribution. As on this event, we wish to motivate all Cambodian students to study and work harder to build their own future lives and success in their jobs.” PRASAC as one of the biggest MFIs in Cambodia has been playing an important role in poverty reduction and contribution to economic development of the country. It bridges up the gap between the poor and financial services by setting up branch networks in rural area so that they could have access to banking service, most of the poor people in Cambodia accepted that microfinance is their best partner for their business. PRASAC has been generating job opportunities for Cambodian not only for highly educated people in urban areas but also for those who are fresh graduated from the university as long as they have enough condition as PRASAC requires. Until now, PRASAC has been recruiting more than 1100 staffs working in all about 100 offices/branches and operating in 17 provincial/towns in Cambodia. Recently, PRASAC has just announced for 60 new staff to joint in its growing team for extending networks/operations. Mr. Say Sony stated that all PRASAC’s staffs need to have two essential points together, skill qualification and good personality. In terms of qualification, all candidates need to have different skills and knowledge according to their positions, duties and responsibilities. Those basic skills are Banking & Finance, Management, HR Management, Accounting, Marketing, and Economics, etc. And all of these professions are not only applicable for PRASAC, but also for other MFIs as well as other public and private sectors in Cambodia. And for personality, they need to have good communication, high commitment and respect all policies PRASAC has set as well as government law. In return, all PRASAC’s employees are also provided with lots of benefits such as annual salary with other fringe benefits, and particularly they will have a chance for career development through in house training program and external training curriculum based on their level of responsibility and performance. Last but not least, as Mr. Say Sony mentioned during his presentation, “We hope that after attending this seminar, all students will begin or still continue having their own commitment and know exactly which way they’re going to choose to pursue degree for their ambition for building their future.
