On June 05, 2009 At the monthly meeting between National Biodigester Program and PRASAC under highly presented by H.E Nou Muth, the president of Directory Committee and the president of National Biodigester Program, H.E Kao Phal the president of Department of Animal Health & Production and Mr. Oum Sam Oeun, Deputy General Manager of PRASAC Microfinance Institution, Directors of Provincial Biodigester Programs, the representative from CEDAC, NBP representatives and other partnership members.
The Director of Provincial Biodigester Program and NBP Coordinators at Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Speu, Takeo, Prey Veing, Svay Rieng and Kandal reported that with PRASAC loan offer, has increased the number of number of biodigester construction and it has created a great success for rural people in countryside which has not only provided energies for household purposes but also production for high quality fertilizers. H.E Kao Phal and Mr. Oum Sam Oeun agreed that under its vision and mission, PRASAC has been cooperating with NBP in order to give its clients opportunity for constructing biogas plant with lowest interest rate only 1.2% per month. This cooperation does not only help the rural people saving their money and time, but also participate in urging for social and financial benefits and also protecting environment. Since starting providing loan for Biodigester Program in November 2007 until May 2009, PRASAC has been increasing its operational provinces for the program to 8 provinces and providing loan to more than 1762 biogases which cost over one million and two hundred thousands US dollars. According to the current report from NBP, we can note that this Credit Programs provided by PRASAC is really playing an important role for such a hug achievement. PRASAC MFI was a former credit component on PRASAC project funded by the European Union started in 1995 and later transformed to permanence licensed as MFI. Nowadays, PRASAC has been operating its financial service to 17 provinces/town, 128 districts, 1204 communes and 7639 villages and expanding its operational areas to nationwide and setting up other new services in order to satisfy customers’ needs. Based on the great achievement of increasing productivity, efficiency and sustainability and based on its vision and mission in developing all medium and small enterprises in doing as well as extending their business, currently PRASAC is reducing its interest rate to only between 2.7 % to 1.6 % per month. |
