PRASAC MFI Ltd ranked 43rd in the world

2007 The Microfinance Information eXchange
(MIX) released its second annual “MIX Global
100: Rankings of Microfinance Institutions,”
a ranking of the top performing microfinance
institutions throughout the developing
world. The ranking is using seven different
categories namely Outreach (borrowers and
depositors), Scale, Profitability,
Efficiency, Productivity, and Portfolio
Quality, as well as in an overall composite
ranking.
On the MIX
Global 100: Composite ranking, based on a
number of criteria and were developed in an
effort to present the leading, most
well-rounded and balanced high performing
institutions PRASAC was ranked number 43.
“The composite
rankings bring into focus a more complete
view of microfinance providers and the
variety of factors that impact their
continued ability to provide financial
services to the world’s poor,” stated Peter
Wall, executive director of MIX. “We hope
that these rankings will serve to answer
some questions about microfinance, as well
as further the conversation about creating
sustainable microfinance institutions.”

PRASAC MFI Ltd received permanent license
from National Bank of Cambodia

PRASAC obtained its
license from the Central Bank (the National
Bank of Cambodia (“NBC”)) to conduct
business as a micro-finance institution in
the Kingdom of Cambodia as set out in
Central Bank’s register No. 10 dated 15
November 2004. This license was expired on 1
December 2007.
The renewal of its
indefinite period of license from National
Bank of Cambodia was obtained on 14

Cambodia Microfinance Submit 2007
Phnom Penh, 29 November 2007: Some 400
national and international microfinance
experts and practitioners are meeting for
two days at the Microfinance Summit 2007:
Reaching New Heights to look at ways of
improving access to financial services in
Cambodia for low income households and small
enterprises.

The objective of the conference
is to explore ways to sustain
the considerable achievements of
Cambodian microfinance and
develop the industry to reach
new heights. On the first day of

themes: integrating microfinance

. 2006 CGAP Financial Transparency
Award
PRASAC MFI Ltd is for the third
consecutive time among the winners.
This time it wins the
Merit Recognition among two hundred and
thirty one participating microfinance
institutions in 62 countries entered this
year, the highest number to date.

National Forum on conducive rural financial
policy environment and regulatory framework
The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) in
collaboration with Asia-Pacific Rural and
Agricultural Credit Association (APRACA)
celebrated a national forum at its branch
office in Kampong Cham province on July 10,
2007 with a special topic
“Conducive
rural financial policy environment and
regulatory framework”
The forum objective is to present
the result of microfinance
performance, challenges and
favorable environment of
microfinance institutions and small
and medium enterprises in order to
finance the business activities. The
forum is also to create awareness of
the policy environment and
regulatory framework, generate
commitment and undertake a plan of
action to ensure public-private
participation and inclusion of grass

The privatization plan of PRASAC MFI was
concluded
On its
shareholders meeting in March 2006 PRASAC
MFI decided to increase its share capital. A
Private Placement Plan was set up and it was
eventually concluded by end of August 2007
when NBC approved the new share capital as
5.41 Billion KHR, the
new shareholders
and the new
Board of Director.
