Takeo – In the contribution of the development of education sector and seeing the demand of the community, especially young generation at rural area, PRASAC’s Board and Management has decided to have other 8 library projects to the public school in various provinces in the year of 2015. This is a strong effort and commitment to participate in helping the students to better access to education through the library at the primary and secondary level.
In fact, the 10th library building has been finished its construction with the installation of library furniture and equipment of many books both fiction and non-fiction. This building locates at Sok An Prey Thom primary and secondary school, village Damnak, Pichsa commune, Koh Andet district, Takeo province. PRASAC also held the inauguration ceremony on 16 November 2015 to formally hand over the library to the school and community. The ceremony was chaired by Director of Curriculum Development Department, Ministry of Education Youth and Sport, Provincial Department of Education Youth and Sport, Takeo, Deputy of District Governor of Koh Andet District, Provincial Branch Manager of the National Bank of Cambodia, Takeo, and Executive Vice President & Chief Operation Officer of PRASAC; and participated from line of local authorities, PRASAC staff, teachers, community and students with approximately of 850 persons.
Mr. Oum Sam Oeun, EVP & Chief Operations Officer, said that PRASAC is not only strives for its strong financial performance but also has strong social commitment to contribute in poverty reduction in Cambodia. PRASAC has already constructed 9 library buildings with fully equip many facilities and stationeries at the end of 2014. Within this year, PRASAC has been constructing another 8 library buildings in different provinces. Prey Thom library building is the 10th library funded by PRASAC and community. With clear direction of PRASAC Board and management in the implementation of this project, we do hope that this library could be a valued asset in giving more benefit to students in the improvement of their knowledge and able to be ready for the ASEAN integration.
Mr. Eng Kimly, Director of Curriculum Development Department of Ministry of Education Youth and Sport, told and requested teachers, student and parents to care of the library building and encourage to students to maximize the use of this library. He would like to thank you PRASAC for always support the education sector, especially allocate its profits to develop human resource through financial donation to build library for students, teachers, and communities. He noticed that PRASAC is role model in banking and private sectors to supporting the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), especially the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports (MoEYS) to promote education sector in the country.
PRASAC recently reaches more than USD 1 billion of total assets and providing new promotion campaign “Super Growth” to support its client’s growth. As at the end of October 2015 PRASAC has total equity USD 158.90 million, loan portfolio USD 830.40 million with 314 thousand borrowers, deposit balance USD 442.95 million from 440 thousand depositors, 5,289 staff, and 181 office network and 101 ATM nationwide.
